About the Murrysville Trail Alliance

The Murrysville Trail Alliance (MTA) is a group working to advance facilities and opportunities for recreational trail use in Murrysville. Members' interests span all types of trail-based recreation, including hiking, mountain biking, and cross-country skiing, and also include use of roads for walking, running, bicycling, and other forms of active transportation (human powered transportation).

Information about trail initiatives throughout Western Pennsylvania may be found in the Archives of this website. Over the past two years the MTA has donated several books and other materials about trail building to the Murrysville Community Library, with the aim of developing a collection of reference materials about trail building and trails that will serve as a valuable resource for Murrysville and Westmoreland County and beyond.

Officers of the MTA are:

Chair - Betsy Aiken
Secretary - Charlie Beard
Treasurer - Buzz Wichmann
Additional board members:  Donna Beard, Susan Karas, Tom Ronksley and Clarence Skena

The MTA's meetings are open to the public, and anyone interested in trail-based recreation in Murrysville is welcome and encouraged to bring your thoughts and ideas. Information about the next MTA meeting may be found on the home page of this website.
